Movies made around Madurai always managed to make a mark. The likes of Subramaniapuram among others is a classic example. Director-actor-producer Sasikumar's fascination for Madurai is well known.
His Sundarapadian is one more that is set around the Madurai milieu and has enough commercial elements and speaks about friendship, betrayal and romance.
Sasikumar's Sundarapandian, is directed by his former associate Prabhakar and is riveting and engaging from the word go.
Lakshmi Menon, Parotta Suri, Appukutty, Vijay Sethupathy among others play lead roles.
Sundarapandian is set around the villages Kandamanoor and Usilampattti. Sundarapandian (Sasikumar), son of rich landlord in Kandamanoor is admired by all. He is a jovial guy and loves Rajnikanth's films.
Sasikumar is known for lending helping hand to his friends in need. One day, he goes to ensure that his friend's love is conveyed to a girl Archana (Lakshmi Menon), who happens to be his ex-flame. As it happens, she falls for Sundarapandian again. But trouble begins here. A murder happens and the blame falls on Sundarapandian. What happens then forms the rest.
Sasikumar's presence adds strength to the character. He is at his ease, amazing cool before the lens. His comical act and emotional encounters wins applause.
Lakshmi Menon is good and she gets under the skin of the character to deliver her best.Parota Suri, Appukutty and the rest does well.
Music by Raghunanthan is good.
The dialogues by Prabhakar adds value to the script.
