After a serious role in Pizza, Vijay Sethupathy takes a light-hearted one in Naduvula Konjam Pakathai Kanom. It is a hilarious movie from the word go. Gayathri of 18 Vayasu plays the female lead with a group of newcomers playing key roles.
Directed by Balaji Tharanitharan with music by Ved Shankar, the movie is based on real life incident, that happened in the life of the movie's cinematographer Prem.
What begins as a fun ride ends up as a light-hearted one. Balaji Tharanitharan has ensured everything is logical and at the same time comical. Nowhere the momentum is lost.
Prem (Vijay Sethupathy) pays cricket with his friends (Rajkumar, Vigneswaran and Bhagawathy Perumal) a day before his marriage with his ladylove Dhanalakshmi (Gayathri). He tries to catch a ball and has a fall. An injury in his head results in suffering from short term memory loss.
Prem forgets some days in his life and his wedding too. Fearing that this could halt the wedding, the friends decide to enact a drama and convince Prem and prepare him for the wedding. How they accomplish the task and whether Prem ties the wedding knot or not forms the crux.
Vijay Sethupathy is the cynosure of all eyes. He plays his role with consummate ease. He is col, and casual playing a complicated role. His friends chip in with their best. Bhagawathy walks away with all humours. Gayathri is cute but has very little to do in the film.
Congrats to Balaji Tharanitharan for making a clean entertainer. Prem's camera and Ved Shankar's are life and blood for the movie.
NKPK deserves a pat for coming out with a laugh thon that is a sure winner.
