Aadhavan

Aadhavan is a typical K.S. Ravikumar brand entertainer made with action, comedy, and sentiments. Add some unbelievable twists and turns and you get the Aadhavan.

Ravikumar has made use of Suriya’s talents but he has failed to provide him with a challenging role. He has made him doing some unbelievable stunts on par with some of the Super Heroes of Kollywood (Suriya easily jump away from the ground and leap into a helicopter flying at 100ft above is just a sample of stunts he does in this film).

Well. Let us look into the story: Aadhavan (Suriya) is a highly skilled contract killer. His father (Shiyaji Shinde) gets a big deal from Abdul (Rahul Dev) to kill a magistrate (Late actor Murali) who is about to submit his report on a serial killings. Aadhavan gets the assignment and tries to shoot the judge. His target misses and judge survives. Now, Aadhavan hatches the plan to assassinate the magistrate over his house. He meets Thara (Nayantara) in the house along with her grandma (Sarojadevi).

He cleverly gets into his house and tries to kill the judge. But his attempts somehow fail to click. Aadhavan’s secret past gives twist to the tale and leads to the climax.

The movie is by and large entertaining thanks to Vadivelu’s comedy, Suriya’s charm, and Ravikumar’s fast narrative. But the script gets stuck in the post interval portion and the twist before the climax is not that convincing. The placement of songs including the intro songs for hero and heroine affect the pace of the film. The much hyped 10yr old Suriya portion hasn’t come out well.

Surya looks stylish and handles the role with ease. Vadivelu steals the show with his expressions and dialogue delivery. Nayantara looks lean and fresh. She doesn’t have much scope to perform. Sarojadevi, acting after 12 years, is impressive while Murali, Manobala are adequate. Sayaji SHinde does over acting.

Harris Jayaraj has failed to create any magic. ‘Hasili Fisili’ is the only song that stayes in our mind.

‘Aadhavan’ has nothing new to offer but still it has some elements to entertain.
