After Kho and Rowthiram, comes Vandhan Vendraaan. Strikingly different from his earlier ventures, the movie is more a mix of romance and action. Directed by Kannan, it has candyfloss love, romantic songs, and racy stunts which is sure to strike it rich with Jiiva's fans. Starring Tapassee in the lead role opposite Jiiva, the movie has a surprise in the form of Nandha, who plays a baddie.
Arjun (Jiiva) has a mission to accomplish. He goes to Mumbai to get acquanited with a don Ramana (Nandha). He gets acquanited with him and also narrates his love tale with Anjali (Taapsee) to him.
It is revealed that Anjali's businessman father is killed in a shoot-out and Ramana is the reason behind it. Anjali now tells Arjun that she would marry him only he convince Ramana to surrender to police. There is twist as events unfold. It is made known that Ramana and Arjun are siblings.
Arjun's trysts make up the rest.
Jiiva liven up the proceedings with his cool act. He is catchy in romantic and stunt sequences. With Santhanam around, he tries comedy too.
His onscreen chemistry with Tapapsee is good. Tapassee is cool and vibrant. Santhanam is good with his one-liners. Nandha does his part well. A romantic youth in earlier films, he gets to play a baddie on screen.
Though the movie has strong points like P G Muthiah's camera and Thaman's music, still the narration slips as the movie progress.
Kannan has missed out on providing pep in the screenplay.
