After Ponnar Shankar, Prashanth Thyagarajan duo is back. This time with a movie on a Mambattiyan, a remake on yestear hit that featured Thyagajan in the lead.
More than Robinhood, Mambattiyan was admired and adored by a few. The question that props our mind is whether the movie lives up to its original.
The movie stars Prashanth, Meera Jasmine, Vadivelu and Prakashraj in the lead roles. Mambattiyan (Prashanth) is a happy-go-lucky man. But he turns violent when his father (Vijayakumar) gets killed by a lanlord (Kotta Srinivasa Rao) for opposing him. In a fit of rage, Mambattiyan kills the family of the Zameendar.
He escapes to a forest. A group of men join hands with him. They become do-gooders. There is Kanathal (Meera Jasmine) in romance with Mambattiyan. Meanwhile, a police officer Ranjith (Prakashraj) goes behind Mambattiyan.
Prashanth shines as Mambattiyan. he is at his best in emotional and stunt sequences. He has managed to render his best. Meera Jasmine too get a fair chance in the film and does leave an impact.
Vadivelu makes a comeback in vain. But Prakashraj sparkles. Mumaith Khan plays a different role.
Thaman has opted to remix a couple of Ilayaraja songs. Shaji's camera could have been much better.
Thanks to sincere hardwork by both Thyagarajan and Prashanth, Mambattiyan is right there to entertain one and all.
