Mun Dhinam Paartheney

‘Mundhinam Paartheney’ is a fresh youthful love story revolving around a bunch of youngsters belonging to upper middle class in Chennai. It tells you the story of Sanjay (Arvind), his friends, and his love affairs. The movie cleverly narrates the life style of urban upper middle class youth along with the main story.

Sanjay staying in London on professional assignment narrates his past and the script follows his memories. He narrates about his 'kind' of girl, and talks about love. Then it moves back to his past where he meets a girl. But that’s not the girl he was destined to be with, the hero comes across another girl Aarthi, a dance tutor. And this is the girl he feels is right for her.

Due to official commitments, Sanjay is sent to London for a week, where the director tries to make it obvious, the hero misses his lady love. Sanjay continues narrating about 'Aarthi' and her life. But does the hero settle with her, does he meet someone else who is his 'kind' of girl?
The debutant director Magizh Thirumeni has narrated the story with some maturity and without gimmicks. He hasn’t gone overboard in narrating the life style of urban youth. The narrative comes close to reality. The making and the characterization are fine.

The scenes that show the hero’s love have been portrayed skillfully.

The songs by Thaman sound good and the picturisation is enjoyable. Vincent’s camera has captured the exotic foreign locations beautifully. The lighter scenes involving Sanjay and his friends, especially with Dinesh played by actor Sai Prashanth, are humorous and well written. The slow pace and too many fringe scenes are the minus points of the movie. The length too affects the overall impact of a sensitive portrayal of a love story.

Except for Sai Prashanth, all the others are new faces. Hero Sanjay’s acting is appreciable. Ekta has a good screen presence and she carries her role with shades with confidence.

Overall, the movie is an appreciable effort. Had the director cut down a few scenes and increased the pace, the movie would have been enjoyable through out.
