Bayam Ariyaan is Jeyamathey Pictures’ maiden venture in film production.
At the heart of the story is a mother who loses herself in the process of mending her son’s troubled life. Whether the son goes on to lead the life of his mother’s dreams and win his love forms the question that the film answers.
Mahesh Raja plays the role of hero while Udayathara plays heroine. Besides, the film has important characters played by Kishore, ‘Boys’ Manigandan, Saranya, Ponnambalam, Devikrupa, Aswathy, ‘Kadhal’ Sugumar and Kottachi.
New director Prathesh has previously assisted and co-directed various films under directors M.Kalanjiyam, Majid, and‘Kalaipuli’ G.Sekaran.
Music is scored by P.C.Shivan. This film audio has a total of 6 songs of which 2 songs have been sung by legendery singers K.J.Yesudas, and S.P.Balasubramaniam.
‘Amma Nee Irundaal Oru Deivam Thevaiyillai...’ the song which features Dr. K.J.Yesudas, is one of the highlights of this film. It is worth mentioning that, he recorded the song for almost 5 hours without even having a drop of water. During the recording he was so emotionally touched that he even shed a few tears.
The title track of this film ‘Se Mo Pe Saamayo’ is a unique attempt in which no words have been used. In this song, interestingly, music director P.C.Shivan has made use of gibberish or meaningless words fit to a melodious tune.
The shooting has taken place in locations in Pondichery, Chennai, Kerala, Kulu-Manali besides London and Switzerland. A graveyard in Pondichery forms the location where a majority of the scenes, including love and fight sequences, take place. During the shoots in the graveyard, interestingly, the whole unit including hero Mahesh Raja, Kishore, Manigandan and heroine Udayathara had to stay and even have their food in the graveyard itself.
During the filming of the climax sequences, where Kishore beats Maheshraja with a cycle tyre, the hero sustained real-life injuries and shed considerable amount of blood too. Despite this he gracefully completed the schedule for the sake of completing the film. The locals and crew who saw this were moved by his gesture.
Mohan Rajan has penned lyrics for all songs in this film. It is worth mentioning that singer Yesudas had great words of appreciation for this upcoming lyricist whose words had given shape to the emotional Amma Nee Irundaal song.
