Kamal Haasan has made it clear that he would no backtrack on his decision to release Viswaroopam in DTH. On 10 january, the film will be premiered in DTH, a few hours before the release in theatres.
Though exhibitors expressed their opposition, Kamal has decided to go ahead with the idea. He has won the support of his industry colleagues.
Interestingly trade circles say that though Viswaroopam is priced at Rs 1000 for premiere on DTH, the response has been great. Lots of enquiries have been generated and people have made it a point to subscribe to it.
The idea is novel and will open new vista for producers. Also it will be beneficial for DTH men too, say trade sources.
