'Tamil cinema is safe in the hands of young filmmakers'

Tamil film industry is progressing well and it is safe in the hands of young filmmakers, says veteran director Balu Mahendra.
Speaking at the audio launch of Neerparavai in Chennai on Wednesday, Balu Mahendra, said, 'new ideas and fresh stories are being made and I am doubly happy that my students like Vettrimaran, Seenu Ramasamy are leading the pack'.
However he expressed disappointment that quality of Tamil film music has gone down and it has been greatly influenced by Western music.
Neerparavai is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. It is directed by Seenu Ramasamy with Vishnu, Sunaina in the lead. Nandhitha Das, Samuthirkani and Thambi Ramiah are also in the cast. Music is by Rahunanthan.
Music composer Haris Jeyaraj, veteran lyricist Vairamuthu, filmmakers A R Murugadoss, Sundar C, M Rajesh Pandiaraj, Suseenthiran, Azhagam Perumal, veteran actresses Vadivukkarasi, Saranya, actors Shanthanoo and Prithvi among others took part in the audio launch.
Neerparavai's trailer was also launched in a grand manner on the occasion. Seenu Ramasamy had made Thenmerkku Paruvakattru before. The movie won three National awards. Obviously expetctaions are high on his next now.
The movie speaks about the travails of fisherfol in Rameshwaram. Cinematography is by Balasubramaniam.
