From stage play to big screen starting with Parasakthi, Sivaji Ganesan set a new trend and almost became synonymous with Indian cinema.
Various events are organised to celebrate the day, which includes family of Sivaji Ganesan holding a mega function including a gala function today in which Tamilnadu Governor K Rosiah would participate.
During his career, Ganesan was conferred the highest and the most prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to Indian cinema in 1997. He received in 1998 the NTR National Award.
