Ajmal, who played his part well in films like Anjathey and Kho, is all set to do a dual role in his forthcoming film Karuppampatti. It is directed by Prabhu Raja Chozhan.
The story revolves around Kothai Cocopardo, a French citizen of Indian origin, who after his father Manohar's death, comes to India in search of his roots. Ajmal plays both father and son in the film that travels from 1980 to 2011.
Besides Ajmal, the cast comprises Aparna, M S Bhaskar, Srinath, Jagan, Mahadevan, Devadarshini, Chethan, Ganesh and Archana Shastri. The cinematography is by Santhosh Sriram, the music by Kannan, the lyrics by Kapilan and the editing by B Lenin.
Says Prabhu Raja Cholan, 'Karuppampatti marks my debut. The film is about two contrasting characters - Manohar, a man with a gruff exterior, and Kothai Cocopardo, who is soft natured and ever smiling and Ajmal plays them with aplomb. Aparna from Mumbai has done justice to her heroine's role'.
