Fans of thespian Sivaji Ganesan gathered in large numbers yesterday to be part of 150th day celebrations of his 1964 epic movie Karnan, that was re-released recently.
The movie starring Sivaji Ganesan was directed by B R Banthulu. Re-released by producer Shanthi Chokalingam in digital format on behalf of Padmini Pictures, the film completed a 150-day run across several screens in the State.
A grand function was organised yesterday in which actor and Sivaji Ganesan's younger son Prabhu and elder son Ramkumar besides music composer M S Viswanathan, playback singers B Srinivas, actors Y Gee Mahendra, Shanmuga Sundaram and Master Sridhar among others took part. The event was presided over by filmmaker P Vasu.
Speaking on the occasion, Shanthi Chokkalingam recalled the difficulties that they faced in digitally re-creating the print and providing it dolby digital sound. Also she said they re-released the film with a mission to ensure that younger generation get an opportunity to see a marvel on screen.
