Balakrishna , son of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N T Rama Rao, will make his foray in Tamil cinema with Varuvan Thalaivan. It is a bi-lingual (being made in Telugu as Oo Kodathara Ulikki Padathara).
Starring Manchu Manoj in the lead, it is the maiden production venture of Lakshmi Manchi, daughter of veteran Telugu film personality Mohan Babu. A grand set (Gandharva Mahal) was erected at a cost of Rs 6.5 crore. Directed by debutant Sekar Raja, the movie is touted to be one of the costliest films to be made in South India.
For the poster release function of the movie in Chennai on Monday, Balakrishna flew in all the way from Hyderabad. Speaking on the occasion, he expressed confidence that the movie would do good in both languages and Manoj will emerge a name to reckon with in Tamil cinema.
