Actress Alphonsa attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills after her lover allegedly committed suicide by hanging at her apartment in Virugambakkam on Monday
Alphonsa had acted in character and glamourous roles in films like Rajasthan, Panchatanthiram and done some item numbers in movies like Rainikanth-starrer Baasha and Dhil.
Alphonsa woke up only to see Vinod's body hanging from the ceiling fan. A shocked Alphonsa lodged a complaint with the Virugambakkam Police, who questioned her and sought details about the nature of the quarrel.
A dejected Alphonsa, returned home from police station and attempted suicide by consuming heavy dose of sleeping pills after police shifted Vinod's body to the Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem.
Her neighbours found her unconscious and rushed her to a private hospital in the city where she was being treated.
