S A Chandrasekaran was elected the president of the council on Sunday. T Siva and T G Thyagarajan from Kothanda Ramaiah’s (KR) camp were elected to the post of vice president of the council.
P L Thenappan and K Muralidharan were elected secretaries of the council and S Thanu from Chandrasekaran’s ‘Thayaarippaalar Nalan Kaakum Ani’ was elected as the treasurer.
More than 600 members of the 770 strong Tamil Film Producers Council voted on Sunday to elect candidates to six main posts including president, vice president, secretary andtreasurer and 21 executive committee members.
Prominent names from the Tamil film industry including actors K Bhagyaraj, Devayani, Prakash Raj, Radhika Sarathkumar, T Rajendran and director Mani Ratnam cast their votes
The elections saw a three way competition between S A Chandrasekaran, producer A Kothanda Ramaiah and actor Sreenivasan.
