Ace director Mani Ratnam and Oscar winner A R Rahman launched the music of director Vasanthabalan's period film Aravaan in Chennai. The film has Aadhi, Pasupathy, Archana Kavi and Dhansika in the lead roles. playback singer karthik has scored the music.
Aravaan, set in the mid 18th century, is the story of an ordinary man with an extraordinary talent. It is based on one of the many stories that were part of Kaavalkottam (a collection of novels penned by Su Venkatesan).
Ace singer Karthik will make his debut as music director in this film. The technical team includes Siddharth (camera) and Vijay Murugan (art direction).
Speaking on the occasion, Rahman said, 'Seeing the trailer I am confident that the movie will be a run-away hit'.
'For the past couple of years, I haven't seen any Tamil film. But I am looking forward to Aravaan'.
Receiving the first copy of the audio, Mani Ratnam said, 'Tamil film industry has grown leaps and bounds. Exciting cinemas are made here. There are a rich creamy talents available here. Experiments and innovative themes are handledwith ease and Aravaan is one such example'.
Veteran director K Balachander and host of film personalities were also present.
