Actress Vichitra's father was killed and her mother injured in an assault by two masked men who escaped with 10 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs 10,000 in cash from the couple's farmhouse near Sunguvarchatram, about 50 km from Chennai, late on Monday night.
The police said Vichitra's father Williams (65), a small-time actor, and mother Mary Vasanthi (60) had been at the farmhouse in Chellampattarai near Sunguvarchatram on the Chennai-Bangalore highway while Vichitra was in Pune at the time of the incident.
