A temple for yesteryear super hero and former Tamilnadu Chief Minister MGR has been constructed at a small village, Nathamedu in Tiruvallur district near Chennai.
On Monday , a consecration ceremony of the idol was conducted by priests, drawing a big crowd of MGR fans.
The temple itself was built by an MGR fan, Kalaivanan who sold his property and pawned his wife’s jewellery to garner funds for it.
Costing over Rs 21.5 lakh, the temple has three idols of MGR, a six-foot tall one in the inner sanctum, a two-foot long idol inside the temple and a third one on the temple tower.
