The Madras High Court on Wednesday quashed the criminal proceedings against Sun Pictures' Chief Operating Officer Hansraj Saxena in two criminal cases against him, since both the complainants have withdrawn the cases filed against him.
Passing orders on the matter on Wednesday, Justice T Sudanthiram said, ‘In both the cases, the dispute arises out of commercial transactions. The de-facto complainants have come forward for quashing the proceedings by arriving at an amicable settlement. The criminal proceedings against the petitioner stand quashed.’
Saxena was arrested on July 3 following a cheating and criminal case filed by Salem-based film distributor T S Selvaraj. Later, another Salem-based film distributor Shanmugavelu too filed a case against him.
The allegations on Saxena were on the distribution of the film Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai. On Tuesday, both the distributors approached the Madras High Court saying that they would withdraw their complaints against Saxena, since a settlement has been reached.
