Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday condoled the death of veteran actor Ravichandran, saying his demise was an irreparable loss to the Tamil film industry.
In a statement, Jayalalithaa said she was pained to know that Ravichandran had breathed his last Monday night. 'Ravichandran, who started his journey in films in 1964, was acting till recently. He established himself as a director too,' she said.
Jayalalithaa who starred in a string of hits with him said she was shocked to learn about the demise and expressed grief. 'Ravichandran who began his film career with the hit Kadalikka Neramillai in 1964, had made his mark in more than 180 films, including hits like Kumaripenn, Naan, Moondrezhuthu and Athey Kangal,' she said.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and DMK treasuer M K Stalin, film personalities Kamal Haasan, Vijayakanth, Sivakumar, Manorama and Rajashree paid their last respects to the actor's mortal remains at his residence in T Nagar.
