Chairman and managing director of Sun Network Kalanithi Maran have been issued summon by the Chennai city Police, asking him to appear before the investigation officer at the K K Nagar police station on July 28.
Maran, who was summoned to appear in connection with a cheating case against his film production and distribution arm Sun Pictures on July 13, had sought any date after July 26 as he was engaged in some pre-fixed appointments.
The police had arrested Sun Pictures chief operating officer W Hansraj Saxena on July 3 and his associate Ayyappan on July 7. Saxena, against whom five cases had been registered, is now in Puzhal prison. He had been granted bail in two cases.
When Saxena was produced before the magistrate last week, he submitted a petition seeking protection. His two-page hand-written letter claimed that the police were forcing him to spill the beans against his boss Kalanithi Maran and that he feared for his life.
