Following an out of the court settlement, film distributors T S Selvaraj and Shanmugavelu, whose complaints prompted the police to arrest Sun Pictures COO Hansraj Saxena and others, withdrew their cases on Tuesday.
If reports are to be believed, Selvaraj and Shanmugavelu filed petitions at the Madras high court, stating that they had entered into a compromise with Sun Pictures. Admitting the petitions, Justice T Sudanthiram asked the public prosecutor get instructions from KK Nagar police in both cases.
Following a complaint from Selvaraj of Kandan Films in Salem, Saxena was arrested by the KK Nagar police on July 3 for alleged offences under various sections, including 428 and 506(ii) of the IPC, and remanded in judicial custody.
The charge against Saxena was that he had cheated Selvaraj of Rs 83 lakh in a transaction in the distribution of the film Theeratha Vilaiyattu Pillai in Salem. A similar complaint was filed by Shanmugavelu, who too is from Salem.
