All eyes are on the moves of Sun Pictures chief Kalanithi Maran as the media baron informed the police who summoned him a couple of weeks ago that he was engaged in some pre-fixed appointments till July 26 and would cooperate with the police on any date after that.
On July 11, the K K Nagar police issued summons to Kalanithi Maran and asked him to appear before them on July 13, but he failed to appear. Instead, in a letter delivered to the investigating officers through counsel Batcha and Ravikumar, he said he would be outside the city and would not be able to appear before the police till July 26.
Explaining why Maran was summoned, an official said cases were registered against Chief Operating Officer of Sun Pictures Hansraj Saxena based on complaints lodged by film distributors. Saxena was arrested and remanded in all the cases.
“Since the quantum of money in the cheating cases is to the tune of a few crores, we need to examine Maran in his capacity as the Managing Director of the company. Such huge transactions could not have happened without his knowledge,” he said.
