Veteran actor Ravichandran is battling for life at a private hospital at Teynampet in Chennai. Doctors say he has slipped into a coma on Wednesday night and showed no signs of recovery.
On July 17, Ravichandran, who was suffering from lung and kidney ailment, was admitted to the hospital by his family members. However, treatment did not give any fruitful result and he went to coma Wednesday night, sources say.
Ravichandran, who became popular with Kadhalikka Neramillai, played lead roles in Tamil movies of the 1960s and 1970s. He has also acted in supporting roles in some recent Tamil movies and of late, has even taken to film direction.
His son Hamsavardhan is also an actor. 'We are praying for the recovery of our father. We are hopeful that he would get well soon,' says the son of the 71-year-old actor.
