There were posters all over Chennai publicizing a film titled Sindhu, with the photos of Amala Paul smiling big on them. Not just movie-buffs, even the actress was clueless about what it is, since she had not acted in such a film.
But a close look at the posters revealed that the movie is Sindhu Samaveli, with the word ‘Samaveli’ buried behind ‘Sindhu’ to create a buzz. ‘The movie is now being screened in theatres popular for showing ‘A’ films,’ according to trade circles.
Directed by Saami, who is known for his shocking storylines, Sindhu Samaveli was Amala’s second film in Tamil. Her first venture in Kollywood as Veerasekaran, which failed to leave any trace in the box-office.
Amala, who then went by the name of Anaca, played the role of a girl who has an illicit relationship with her father-in-law. ‘She did not know Tamil at that time. Hence she agreed to be part of such a project,’ circles close to her say.
